MEET COUNCILWOMAN DEMETRUS COONROD
Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod is running for re-election to the Chattanooga City Council in District 9. First elected in 2017, she is a Chattanooga native and long-time community leader and small business owner. Councilwoman Coonrod serves as chair of the City Council’s Youth and Family Development Committee, is an inaugural member of the Hamilton County Schools leadership program, an Executive Committeewoman for the Tennessee Democratic Party, and was recently appointed to serve on the National League of Cities’ Race, Equity and Leadership Council. On council, she has focused on COVID-19 recovery, creating economic opportunity through job creation, investing in early childhood education, and advocating for safer communities by focusing on criminal justice reform.
Her General Election Day is March 2, 2021.
