We have big news to share with you: WTF has hired Sarah McCall as its first Executive Director! As you know, for the past 10 months, Sarah has led WTF’s efforts to grow the organization statewide as our Expansion Director, and WTF’s Board of Directors has elevated her to Executive Director to continue our strategic growth. WTF began as a grassroots, all-volunteer effort six years ago, but your support has enabled us to take on our first full-time leader. We know there are many of you that remember our humble beginnings—we have come a long way!
We are delighted Sarah has agreed to take on this role. Throughout her career, Sarah has worked to develop the political potential of women, LGBT people, young people and people with disabilities by providing leaders and candidates the tools and skills they need to run and to win. She most recently served as campaign manager for Anne Martin’s successful bid for Chancery Court Judge in Davidson County. Sarah also consulted with Emerge Tennessee during the organization’s successful statewide launch. She has worked on political campaigns across the country with national organizations like Emerge America and the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. Prior to moving to Tennessee almost two years ago, Sarah served as Founding Executive Director of Emerge Vermont. In 2015, after years of recruiting other women to run, Sarah ran for the Burlington, VT City Council herself, coming up 67 votes short.
Sarah’s wealth of political and fundraising experience and her strong commitment to WTF’s mission are exactly what we need to take our organization forward. WTF’s founders and Board of Directors are excited about this next chapter in our 6-year history as we work to bring progressive women into political leadership in Tennessee—one candidate and one election at a time
