Deborah K. Reed
Deborah K. Reed is running for State Representative in District 81 in Tipton County. A former community college administrator and longtime community activist and volunteer, Deborah is committed to WTF values of affordable health care access, pay equity, and women’s right to make their own medical decisions.
Here is Deborah in her own words:
I support Insure TN. Medical insurance is often not affordable for workers whose employers do not provide this benefit. Under Insure TN federal dollars are available for Tennesseans who cannot get health care coverage. In addition, passage of Insure TN would create jobs, keep hospitals open and boost our economy without increasing the state budget.
I mentor young women and provide opportunities for them to develop their leadership potential. My goal is to help women to lead and to make decisions in every aspect of their lives. With so many Tennesseans lacking access to health care insurance, women are already in a vulnerable position. If access to affordable reproductive medical care and education are unavailable, the ground women have fought for will be lost. I believe a woman has the right to make decisions about her own health and body and will use my position to support policies at all levels that allow her to do so.
The citizens in District 81 deserve an experienced advocate who will speak for those whose issues are being ignored by our legislature. Deborah K. Reed will be that advocate.
