WTF is proud to announce its endorsement of Erin Coleman for State Senate, District 20.
As a veteran, a lawyer, and a small business owner, Erin embodies the skills, experience, and values that the Tennessee State Senate needs, and she embraces WTF’s progressive goals such as health care access, pay equity, sensible gun legislation, and equal treatment for all citizens.
Here is Erin in her own words:
As a mother of three young children and a small-business owner, I know the challenges facing women in today’s workforce. Even though women make up a majority of our state’s workforce, we still lag behind in equal pay for equal work, available and affordable childcare, and family medical leave. This situation will not change substantially until we put more women into positions that influence public policy.
Capitol Hill is a boy’s club. We see that in the sexual harassment scandals and the unrelenting focus on unimportant wedge-issue legislation. It’s time to focus on issues that matter, and it’s time to bring everyone together so that all Tennesseans feel represented by their state government.
Citizens of District 20 need a Senator with a strong voice, someone who will stand up to the lawmakers who refuse to recognize the real priorities of Tennesseans. Erin Coleman will be that voice.
